Convention Standing Committee
The role of this Committee is to ensure that the annual 201V2 Convention is conducted is such a manner as to ensure that Club members in particular will want to attend Convention and will gain from Convention in both knowledge pertaining to their Lions Clubs and will have an enjoyable social time mixing with members from other Clubs both from within and outside of V2.
The Committee is charged with ensuring that the District 'Convention Policy Manual' is up to date and relevant and that it is made available to Clubs who may wish to bid to run the Convention in their Club area.
When a Club lodges a bid to run the Convention, members of the Standing Committee must visit the bidding Club and ensure that proposed venues and facilities are suited to running such an important event.
In addition one member of the Committee is ‘appointed’ to liaise with the successful Club and to attend their planning meetings to ensure that such planning is carried out in accordance with the Policy Manual.
Members serve on the Committee for three years with one member becoming eligible for retirement or re-election each year.
